Get strong and fast biologic healing through osteoinduction.
Having both osteoconductive and osteoinductive properties, Osteoallograft™ provides the full spectrum of factors needed to promote bone healing. It is used in void filling (TTA, TPLO, bone loss), fracture repair, spinal fusions, arthrodeses, periodontics and more.

Osteoallograft is natural, species-specific bone allograft for dogs and cats. It consists of osteoconductive cancellous bone chips and osteoinductive demineralized bone matrix (DBM). There are no other carrier additives to dilute the volume of bone delivered to the surgical site. All tissue grafts are collected aseptically and processed in a sterile, laminar airflow environment. The cancellous bone graft is produced by creating small chips from the cancellous compartment in bone. The DBM consists of cortical bone that has been ground to particle sizes of 1.25 mm or less and demineralized. The demineralization procedure utilizes methods that have been shown to leave the matrix and endogenous bone growth factors in place. Grafts are conveniently packaged for individual case management.

Osteoallogaft™ Orthomix™ is used in orthopedic cases. Orthomix - Standard has chip sizes of 4 mm and smaller, Orthomix - Fine has chip sizes of 2.5 mm and smaller. Cancellous bone chips and DBM are also available individually.

Osteoallograft™ Periomix™ is used in periodontic applications. Periomix contains cancellous chips that have been sieved to smaller than 0.7 mm.

Advantages
As effective as autograft in long term outcomes.
Completely natural biological repair – fuses with, and eventually replaced by, the recipient’s own bone.
Reduces OR time and is cost effective.
Reduces patient pain and other morbidity (no need to obtain autograft).
Cancellous Chips provide scaffolding that facilitates migration of osteoblasts.
Demineralization exposes the native bone growth factors in the matrix so they are immediately available when implanted (bypasses resorption as the first step in bone healing).
Common Applications
Void filling (TPLO, tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA), bone loss, gun shot wounds, tumor)
Fracture repair (primary and non- or mal-unions)
Augmentation of, or substitute for, autograft
Staged plate removal in osteopenic or geriatric patients
Spinal fusions, arthrodeses, periodontics, etc.
Use wherever bone graft is needed
Composition
Cancellous Chips are osteoconductive. They are (approximately 4mm in size and are made from the cancellous compartment in bone. They have been purged of the cellular and lipid elements in marrow to reduce immunogenicity, treated with antibiotics, and rinsed prior to packaging (available as frozen only).
Demineralized Bone Matrix (DBM) is osteoinductive. It is made from cortical bone that has been ground to particle sizes of 1.25 mm or less. The mineral content is reduced using hydrochloric acid. This leaves the matrix and the acid-resistant, endogenous bone growth factors in place (available as frozen only).

Orthomix - Standard is a mix of DBM and has cancellous chips that are large (sieved to <4 mm). Ideal for fracture repair or any type of void filling where larger cancellous bone chips are needed (available as frozen or freeze-dried).

Orthomix - Fine is a mix of DBM and cancellous chips that have been sieved to < 2.5 mm chip size. It is designed to facilitate packing into small spaces, for example in arthrodeses, smaller fracture gaps, or staged plate removals (available as frozen or freeze-dried).

Periomix is a mix of DBM and cancellous chips that are < 0.7 mm in size. This makes it ideal for periodontic applications such as tooth extractions, furcation defects, horizontal and vertical bone loss, or fracture of the mandible (available as freeze-dried only)

Storage
Frozen grafts should be kept frozen (at least at -20°C) until ready for use. If stored at -20°C (or in a standard household freezer), they should be used within 6 months of receipt. If stored at -40°C or colder, the grafts can be stored for 5 years.
Freeze-dried grafts can be stored refrigerated or at room temperature for 5 years from the date of packaging. A Package Insert (with Transplant Record) is enclosed with each graft; it contains instructions for handling and use.
